Introducing Night Nanny jobs
Night Nanny jobs responsibility
Candidate checks
Sleep deprivation is one of the worst feelings but add children to the equation and most people have problems coping. For the first few months of a child's life they wake up at least once or twice in the night; often significantly more. This is to be expected but is by no means easy especially for mothers who have experienced difficult births and working parents. This problem can be compounded further if another child in the family also has sleep problems.
In the past parents struggled on, but now 'Night Nannies' are increasingly common and can revolutionise a family's life.
Duties include:
- Preparing all night feeds or taking the baby to the mother for a feed.
- Bathing the baby and cleaning/changing it during the night.
- Establishing sleep routines for children of all ages.
- Babysitting during the evening.
- Getting the baby up and dressed in the morning (if appropriate).
- Giving the whole family unbroken nights sleep.
Hiring someone to care for your children for the whole night is not cheap but usually only lasts for 4-5 months:
Costs start at £70.00/night or $100.00/night but is higher if twins or siblings are involved.
We suggest, as a minimum, you thoroughly check all the following details: -
- The identity of each candidate against her ID card, driving license, passport or birth certificate.
- You ask to see an original certificate of qualification, and if recently qualified, contact details of a tutor.
- At least three references to confirm a candidate's competence, experience and suitability.
- You enquire the reasons for any gaps in their employment history.
- Check if a reference has ever been refused or a job has not lasted. Find out why.
We sincerely hope that you will rapidly find the night nanny jobs you are looking for, and welcome comments and suggestions on how we might improve our service to you.
