Being a nanny is more than just a job providing financial rewards. You are responsible for the growth and development of all the children in your care. You will play an invaluable role not just whilst you are their nanny but for the rest of their lives. This experience is of great importance and value to both you and the family in your care.
The joy of a Nanny
Nurturing children is an extremely rewarding experience. It is exciting to watch a child learn to sit, crawl, walk and talk. It is wonderful to see a child's face light up when you walk into the room, and to share with them the sense of achievement when they read a word for the first time. Being a nanny is exciting but also a huge responsibility.
The trust placed in a Nanny
The nanny is responsible for the well being of some one else's child and is the person parents count on and trust to help raise their children. You will need to be sympathetic to and understanding of the needs of the whole family. The nanny will at times assume authority, be a disciplinarian, teach and attend to the sick. This is the job of a carer.
The miracle worker
A nanny needs to be, kind, caring, organised, inventive, creative, patient, reliable, level-headed and understanding. To coin an old saying, "A good Nanny is worth her weight in gold".
